The only way I can get things too go ""halfway"" smoothly ..is to prepare Few days ahead..with the exception of baling hay..somethings going to crap ,No matter your best efforts.. Well then that was the problem! I started planning a week in advance - too soon. And yet we got another 1" of rain last night/today so it's even worse. On the bright side, my thighs are getting super toned from walking in all the mud .

Sounds to me that you did just fine. The cattle only did what they were allowed to do.
Glad you got a good shot on them

Well this time I was helping my best friend load/haul. Ankle deep in mud in the corral, a combo of light rain & sleet but the trailer backs up to the alley so at least we didn't get stuck, no ugly incidents. Until we were on the highway with the 3rd load and had a blowout on the trailer. Didn't make a lot of friends with the line of cars/trucks behind us as we limped into town going 35 with the flashers on but pulled into a tire shop at the edge of town. He had a spare but couldn't jack up the trailer with a full load so we made the drive of shame through town. The cop that stopped next to us at a stoplight just shook his head & laughed (small town - she's famous for always getting a flat). Numerous good Samaritans either waved or honked & pointed at the tire - as if we didn't realize. Made it to the sale barn, made it back to the ranch & our only option was to use the spare with the rim wallowed out but we did use washers to tighten the nut and stopped periodically to make sure they weren't coming loose. Snowing by the end of the last load but the tire held up. Done!

I once had a blowout when hauling calves.. flatdeck trailer with stock racks on it.. crawling under there to put the jack under the axle was NOT fun with them pissing the whole time These were 10 ply radials and they were the worst tires ever..pretty much got a flat every time I took it out, the rocks on our gravel roads would go straight through the tread I upgraded the tires to 14 ply tires that day, 6 years ago, have never had a flat since. I'd highly recommend using 8 bolt rims and heavy duty tires, it's a heck of a peace of mind
