hay here is down about 50 - 60 % from usual. Mine looked pretty good compared to other fields. I heavily fertilized... but I am down about 40-50% of my usual for first cutting. we had heavy frosts and it pretty much took all my orchard grass out. .. which makes up a lot of my first cutting.
I got mine up and put away.. really nice looking hay.. lots of leaf. hit it with 80 lb / ac urea .. hoping for a pretty nice 2nd cut and hopefully a 3rd as well.
my new JD baler worked great. I've never made hay w/o problems and jammed balers.. so it was a delight to roll everyone w/o a hiccup.

I think getting the top off will make it come back strong

We ended up with 293 bales of brome, too early to cut the alfalfa. Less than last year but more than expected. Neighbors banded together, showed up with hay trailers/track loaders and moved all of it in 4 hours so hubby wouldn't have to. We are blessed!
After record amounts of rain the past few years we are bone dry and need some.

The double chamber ablation last summer was a huge success, as in going from A-fib/A-flutter 85% of the time (day & night) to zero since Oct. Unfortunately he can't catch a break & was recently diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Currently "watchful waiting" but time to pull out my Big Girl britches. Again.

Very sorry to hear that he's not doing well. Can imagine the disappointment after getting the A-fib taken care of. Keep us updated.

So sorry to hear that he has yet another major stumbling block to trip him up. Prayers for you both.
Our hay has been less than normal with all the too warm too early, then colder. He tore up the discbine cutter bar and all that... replaced 3 pumpkins, all the bars for the spinning of the knives, I don't know what all. Probably be in the 8,000 range. But he has insurance on it; so 1,000 deductible and it will pay the rest. But put us behind over a week and now they are saying 40-60% chance starting Sunday.... we need the rain, but we need to get some more hay made. Always something. Still, will take those problems over yours right now TC.

Hay season just starting here. Maybe 10-15% of it on the ground. Teh 10 day forecast looks like good hay weather. No rain, temperatures in the high 80's & low 90's, and the day time humidity in the teens. Hay will dry quick.
