I bought one this spring from R & R Equipment out of Paris, TX that I feel is pretty comparable quality to silencer for ALOT less. Does your system have the bar in the middle of the chute to prevent them from going down, like the video Birddog posted? First time I've seen one. If so, do you have any issue getting calves or cows to run through? i don't have the breast bar.. I think thats what its called. but you can get it as an option. I would think you'd have to remove it for calves but i'm not sure.
I have the optional controls that swing clear around, but mine are down low around your belly.. so you don't have to keep your arms raised up a lot... the perfect place is to stand right in front of the chute at a 45 angle with the controls. you can see them come right out and and they can't see you.

cowrancher, I remembered this thread. All good with your Silencer? I let the boys go pick up a new Silencer Heavy Duty, Extended, from Stapleton, NE. Haven't used it yet. At least should put an end to the bitching about getting tired running the head catch. alsilencer.com/our-products/silencer-chutes/

You’re going to realize what a dream it is and if you ever have to use another chute, you’ll be cringing.
One thing on our silencer and I guess it depends on set up but we had to build a wooden ramp from alleyway into chute. They never liked the small step (lazy girls).
We also put two LED lights on each end to brighten inside our chute for AI work. I believe they are zip tied.

was a pain to move since it weighs so much, but got it done. I don't have it set up yet at the new place . hoping to get a building built as soon as I can for it.
mine will step in from the alley but they usually stop and look first. I was thinking of pouring the concrete lower for the chute, but not sure if that would be a pain. you'd have to get it just right for it to work.
