In the Tn, Ky, Va area what winter forages are planted? Or does everyone rely on the stockpiled fescue?

Why would you want more than fescue.

Why would you want more than fescue. Looked like he was selling out. Maybe he was wanting to pick up some of tbose ton and a half KY mama cows and trying to figure out how to carry them through the winter? Lol

Just selling the opportunity group i bought. Price was pretty good on them. Reason I asked is we never had winter forage back in central florida because we never got reliable rain. Reading a little, it seems th fescue grows all winter down to freezing temp?

Fescue will grow as long as temps don't drop under 40

Anyone ever tried planting dwarf essex rape?
I have planted it a couple times for the sheep to graze but have never put the cattle on it. The sheep will graze the rape and turnips till late December when they are pretty well killed off from the heavy frost.
