I am not real fond of the Angus Limousin cross bull either. I would prefer to use a straight Limousin bull, if I were going that route. We used a red Limousin a few years ago on Angus, and Hereford cows, had some good calves by both types of cows. The problem with the Limflex bull is the F94l gene. The limflex bull can at best only have one copy. He can only pass on the gene to about half his calves unless he is bred to cows with two copies. I've never known anything about their gene stuff. Just always liked the thickness and muscle of those red ones. Maybe I have just seen bad examples of the Angus crossed bulls, but most of the ones I have seen have taken the rear ends right off of the Limousin component of the cross. The thickest made calf ever raised here was a calf out of a red Limousin bull and a Hereford cow.

Really not much limo in my area so not a lot of feedback but the few crosses I have seen I have really liked. Seems to me the constant weak spot for angus is getting a real rump on them so I am hoping to really add some muscle and carcass yield to my calves. My plan is to cover some limflex and limo heifers with my angus bull. If I can get my act together I would like to ai some of my better angus sim angus cows to a limo bull. I can lease a nice fairly high percentage limflex bull but from what you are saying that may not be my best option. Wish you were closer Randy would sure love to see your cattle and pick your brain for a while.

Best cattle we ever had was Blonde bulls over Simmental cows. I do like Simmental with a touch of Red Angus.

So far I’d have to say it’s a tight race between Sim Angus and Hereford Angus cross.
Right now we are running a Victor Domino Hereford bull on our Angus and Angus cross cows.
I still have a urge to add some beefmaster influence I just know the ear will hurt at the sale barn here.

Black baldies. HHXAN were probably the best because they held frame good. PHXAN would finally get up to the holding pens after about 1/4 or 1/2 of the other cows had been worked. Slow but sure.

My preference is Hereford X Angus with a "touch" of Charolais. The smokey calves I've had haven't taken a hit at the stockyards. There have been times when I have had 1 or 2 bring more than my black or brockle faced calves.
I've always wanted to add Murray Gray and try some Braunvieh. A number of years ago, where I used to work, they took a few groups of their Angus and tried a couple of different crosses. One group were crossed with Murray Grey and those calves were gorgeous! They grew like weeds and were very 'beefy'. Another group they crossed with Marchigiana and those calves were crazy! I ended up with one as a bottle calf. The crazy SOB grew like a weed, but like the others it was very leggy and outright nuts!

Hereford over Brangus for me. I'm covering their heifers with Angus.

I prefer the basic Hereford/Angus cross. It sells the best in my area. Creates good feeders, great females and sells well. Covers all the bases. I've toyed with adding Char or Simmental to the mix. Now I'm leaning towards Red Angus. The buyers in this area are accepting Red Angus and Herefords well now. Feel this would give me a good 3 way cross and each compliment the other. I've boyght a few females and trying it beforw buying a bull.

Sale yard cows to either a Black Angus or Charolais bull.

Angus x Hereford but You don’t dare end up with a Hereford marked calf in our geography or you give away .75# instantly. Have to watch it pretty close

Pretty similar cross, but I haven't seen Beefmaster cows X Charolais bulls on this list. Big boned, yellow, soggy, and uniform. Steer calves might weigh 750 and the mommas holler for them for a week when they are weaned.

I liked the Gelbvieh x Simmental Cross myself. I know it's two continental breeds but they made some good mommas.

Just make them so they grow.....
Angus base, red or black, same bulls with a few white and Hereford thrown in. Works for us.
