Any concerns about johnson grass early in the spring when first coming up? I have a couple places I would like to winter some cattle and graze out in early spring and summer that has a large amount of johnson grass. I would have no concerns.

I have a couple places I would like to winter some cattle and graze out in early spring and summer that has a large amount of johnson grass. It’s fine then. You have to have a large number of acres per cow for it to get ahead of them. If it’s just patches they are going to keep it eaten down. It’s actually hard to keep it in a pasture because the eat it so fast it doesn’t get to grow good enough and can’t feed it’s roots. It dies off then.

I never noticed any in my pastures until I started ratational grazing. One of the first things that they eat when I move them.

When you started rotational it let it recover while they were gone and that’s why you see it.
