my wife and I were headed down the road the other day on the side by side to go check the cows. Legal here, as long as you have the plate, and we do. There was a van behind us, and as we came up on the gate access on the left I hand signaled the turn. Just as i was fixin to turn, the fool passes me on the left! Since then ive seen the idiot driving down the road in his minivan a lot. All the doors open and the rear hatch open. Cant fix stupid

I bet 1/2 the people in Texas under age 50 don't have a clue what a hand signal is or what it means.
No even sure if they still teach it in driver's ed.

We have gotten the Kingsport/Sullivan county newspaper for years and watched the local news from there. Between Hawkins County and Glade Springs VA (Washington County) just up the road you probably want find 2 counties more drug infested. Those people in the Van are probably flying high on Meth mixed with a little mountain shine. They will have no insurance, no licence, already a police record, the van probably stolen. No doubt the police must be very corrupt in those areas for them to have gotten out of hand as bad as they have. I unfortunately know all about the drug problem in the Kingsport area if you're talking about Eastern Tenn. My ex wife was into drugs there, a dealer and ended up spending a year in the pokey when she got caught. We'd been split up for several years when that happened. She got in to it while we were still together in Memphis , I found out about it and she told me to take the 4 kids and raise them myself...that's what drugs do. I tried to get her to get into rehab and we'd try to make it work and her last words to me before me and the kids drove off for Texas was "No, I 'like' putting a needle in my arm". When we drove across the Miss River bridge into Arkansas, I told the kids "Take a good long look back there...I won't ever come come back to Tennessee again and if ya'll do, you'll have to do it on your own when you get older". I kept my word. She didn't change when she got out of prison and went right back to the same shit...got cancer in 2005 and probably could have survived it but by that time, her body was so weakened by drug use, she couldn't take chemo and died within 2 days of starting chemo. The kids went to her funeral..I did not. Cold maybe, but it was pretty tough, raising 4 kids by myself, with the oldest 12 when we split up and the other 3 ages 10, 10 and 8. |

Whenever I am on a tractor or quad and know that I will be taking a left I slow down to force anyone behind me to pass before I get to my turn. Arm signals will just get you in trouble. I would rather be a few seconds slower getting there than have some idiot whack me.

I was hauling hay and in the wrong lane trying to make the swing into my driveway and a car passed me. They clipped my mail box and never even stopped.

I don't think folks know about hand signals anymore, but they sure know to tell you they are number 1 when they go by you.
Our roads are one horseshoe curve right after another up and down hills, with a few short straight stretches. Our house and main farm headquarters is in one straight stretches. I have about quit trying to hand signal on a tractor, cause they just think you're telling them to go around. I have to slow down to a crawl and hope they all pass and try to watch front and back before turning left into the driveway.
