Got one pf those 12v electric transfer pumps on the transfer tank. About 3 years old. Last year or so, ive had to smack the body of the transfer pump to get it turning. Or take ot apart and spin the mesh gears. This time it wouldnt go. Took the motor apart and there was all kinds of corrosion inside the motor body itself. On an “explosion proof” motor, how does that happen? On further disassembly and cleaning, the magnets came loose from the body of the housing. Whatever glue they used failed also. The brushes look good, the windings look good. Other than the dog ear I broke off how can I fix the magnets back to the sides and with what? Wire brush will clean up the rest of the corrosion. 250 bucks for the replacement

I got one from Ag Supply that the motor quit after pumping 1000 gal. The motor has been taken apart 4 times and no one can find the problem.

Fill rite has a two warranty. Pretty simple design and easy to fix.
That doesn’t help you today but your next purchase I recommend it. I’ve had them repair 10 year old pumps for free

I've had the same thing happen on electric sprayer pumps. "explosion proof' simply means that the seal between the elctric part (the motor) and the fluid part (pump) has such tightness as to prevent a spark from entering the fluid end. A spark is much smaller than a gasoline or diesel molecule...it's (for simplicity's sake of description) the thickness of a single electron or other charged particle....extremely small. By comparison, a molecule is YUGE!
What has happened to yours and my electric spray pumps has nothing to do with the 'explosion' aspect..it has simply allowed moisture to enter into the electric end of the motor casing. Rain. humidity, condensation.. you would need a weather proof, not weather resistant pump/motor to keep moisture out and most of those type pumps aren't weather proof.

I have four different Fill Rite pumps and have never had a single problem. I wouldn't buy anything else.

Could be galvanic corrosion from the aluminum body and interior parts, or maybe stray current when not in use 😂😂.

We sell GPI and Fillrite. I’ve seen presentations for both.
Based on customers experience Fillrite is the better of the two. It’s a simple centrifugal design with wear parts that are easy to replace.
GPI is more of a piston type pump with a plunger, spring, O-rings. The motor can be replaced but it’s a little pricey.
To my knowledge neither mfg builds the motor so motor warranty is a little more complicated being a two step process.
Based on my dealing with both companies Fillrite warranties things in my opinion they shouldn’t but doing so gets them lots of business.
Edit to add If you want someone on your side. Buy from your local farm supply. TSC is a chain and too big to take care of the warranty and etc.

I thought GPI was a gear pump.
