I have finally got to a point where I can build my little shop/tool room and have somewhere to work on stuff out of the dirt. I started the forms several months ago and last weekend I got the area level and raked smooth. Ordered concrete yesterday and it will be here Monday morning. I have gone back and forth on finishing it myself but finally decided to hire the finish work out to concrete Carlos (that's what caller ID says ) I have 3 bays formed out , 15' x 36' I will close in 12x15 and have a 15x24 pad to pull stuff on to work on it. Maybe next year I can add more

You'll be happy as swine in feces when you get it done Dash. As long as I live here, I can't get a permit to build a big shop unless I build grade up 4-5' and I'm not even going to try.

Might be a good ideal to make it hurricane proof as it sounds like it will be nice.

Might be a good ideal to make it hurricane proof as it sounds like it will be nice. I have some 3" polyiso that is scored on 10" so I plan on doing book shelf framing with 2x6 spaced 20" apart and doubling the iso. It will be R35. Metal on outside and I have enough 5/8 CDX for interior. It's on the north east end so everything would fall away from it. It should be pretty stout .

Sounds like it'll be very nice and useful. Concrete up here has gotten stupid expensive.

they want abuot 125 / yrd here for crete as well. I just talk to the main boss and tell him.. i'll give you 105 a yard.. (dpending on job.. bigger jobs I'll get him down to 95 / yd.)
he'll do it w/o thinking about it everytime.
usually the guy you order it from can take it down about 10 bucks a yd. but anymore and you need to call the main boss.

I will keep that in mind on the next pour. I'm tickled with it . I will most likely do the next few smaller sections myself. It's been a long time since I've done any concrete work. After the refresher course today I should have no problems next time.

That looks really good. I always make things too small, or maybe I'm just not organized enough.
