I am having a time keeping a strong hose to my Jobe float valves. Water hoses have become so cheaply made that the metal that holds the rubber tubing blows out. Or where the hose end turns to connect to the valve or another hose will blow out. The metal is so cheaply made. I am on county water for the cows, and finding a leak 12 hours after it started is getting expensive. Does anyone know of a company or some place that I can purchase a super duty hose, 25 ft in length? I found one on Amazon that the metal looks stronger than most others I see. I don't know why they are making the brass fittings so thin and flimsy. This is the one I found but if anyone has found one made for waterers etc... please let me know. www.amazon.com/dp/B0060I655K/?coliid=I3M3O8EANNGDVE&colid=1ILFMP82X84B3&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

A hose made like a washing machine hose would be perfect. Those never blow out. (Knock on wood)

I have had good luck with Craftsman hoses. Lowe's or Ace hardware

Can you turn your pressure down? When I was having trouble similar to yours I installed a gate valve before the hose to allow a lower pressure. There was a big enough tank where the cows are not going to drain it dry so so what if it takes another hour or so to refill. It also helps when you do have a break that you only lose 40 gallons an hour instead of 400.

Automotive heater hose will last a very long time, but it ain't cheap..about $1.50/ft last time I bought some and it was 1/2"..put your own ends on it.

All of these are great ideas. Putting a lower pressure valve before the hose is a good idea. We are going to Jackson tomorrow and will do some searching for the hoses you are speaking of. Thanks for all the ideas.

You probably don't want to try to buy automotive heater hose at a retail auto parts store..too expensive. Find somewhere that deals in bulk.

Are you guys that are adding your own ends just using standard hose repair kits with hose clamps?

Are you guys that are adding your own ends just using standard hose repair kits with hose clamps? We are yes, have some plastic, some brass some stainless. Just get the correct size ends with hose, ours are so tight we use hot water or torch to heat them up to get them over the ends.

My husband went to Tractor Supply and brought back a really heavy duty black hose that has cord in it. It is thicker than any garden hose by far. He is going to put ends on it with a clamp, and that is where I am afraid it is going to fail. He told me that he made the same kind of hose connection at work and it had worked for 8 years until the day he retired. So, I guess it is still there. I am so afraid of the ends that are put on with hose clamps. I hope he proves me wrong this time.
Bluewater Rubber Co. is not in my area. I live in West TN.
Ned Jr, the hose that you are showing on the website you posted looks identical to the hose that he picked up. It is a Goodyear hose, as I did not realize that they even made hoses. I think the hose will hold up, and I will just keep my fingers crossed on the ends.

Even though our winter is not like some of yours those Craftsman hoses do not get stiff and do not kink. About 30 bucks for a 50' with SS ends. Lifetime warranty too.
