I was going to put out the first hay of the season and the tractor was dead. Slapped the cables on to jump it off and there was not enough current getting thru to make much of a difference. Got lucky and my nephew came home about the time I was putting things away. Easily started using his. Now, I need a really good set of cables. Any suggestions?

I have a set of long ones I've had good luck with for a couple of years..came from NAPA. I've taken good care of these tho, and tho I use them a lot, they stay under my truck seat unless I'm actualy using them. I hate the shape of the clamp ends tho...hard to get firmly on GM batteries.

Can't say that I've ever needed anything over 25'. Looked around Amazon this morning and still don't have a clue. Did see one pair for $200+ and figured they should be good ones at that price. lol

best ones I ever had were made from welding stinger cable and used store bought clamps. Someone stole them out the back of my truck.

I have a set made from welding leads. And a store bought set from tractor supply that I have had good service out of.

Just ordered the 25' Energizer 1-Gauge. Didn't necessarily like the looks of the clamp but I'll give them a try.

The clamps I have work good on standard battery cable terminals and posts..just don't work well on my 08 Silverado's battery cable ends.

Thanks new type clamps are ok if you go ahead and break off the tabs sticking out on the ends. Don't know what genius designed this but obviously never jumped a tractor off. These tabs will engage the starter every time if you are not careful

The best set I ever had I got from Napa and they had a quick disconnect like bigger generators have. The truck end was hard wired to my truck battery and the quick connect I bolted to my bumper right under the grill. No need to pop the hood just plug the cables in and had perfect connection on that end. A lot of tow trucks use this style, I had them for a good 10 years untill I got rid of that truck. They were by far the best ones I've ever had.

one word for you on jumper cables, cooper. Knowing this I was looking for them and could have been the $200+ set, but didn't look pass the price. Copper plated seemed to be what popped up the most.
Sounds like a good setup, Mack.
