White Oak log prices around here have been pretty high fo the last year or so. I believe it is a sign of where the election is headed in 2020. Distillers are banking on Trump winning and the democrats all turning in to acholic's/

Most all the stave logs here go to independent stave in Mo. We have a small stave mill here in the county that saws staves and ships the stave to a cooperage.

Apparently the export market keeps the high grade hardwood market up on the east coast. Just hope that you have decent oak and popular and not a lot of pine.

About 15% of white oak veneer, and grade logs around here, get exported to Korea, and east Asia. Another 25% go to domestic veneer, and the rest go to furniture factories, and staves. Low grade get made into pallets, blocks and beams.
$400 mbf for non-grade $600 mbf for grade $900-1200 mdf for veneer. Last i'd heard.

White oak has been high around here for a long time, just below black walnut. At least according to my logging friends.

Its slowing down here now. Burbon has to age at least 2 years in the barrel.
