Seems a neighbor helped you out Naw, this was intentional as she's out of my only cross cow. A little while back I needed a babysitter in my weaning pasture to give a couple of calves company in their new pen. I found a weaned bottle calf heifer to do that. She 's been good at her job so I didn't ship her like I figured to do after selling the calves. Bred her to Special Focus and this calf is the result.

When I have a really good calf, I always try to think of someone that would like a new bloodline calf to add to their herd. All of my replacements are the ones that I raise and come down from my original family of cows. Then when I bring in a bull that I like, I try to save a couple of heifers from each cow. When I keep a bull longer than usual, some of the calves will have to find homes. Most often, those heifers are taken to the commercial cow herd. But if my husband does not take them, then I want to place them with people that I know who care for their cows. I would only sell a nice full bodied heifer to someone that they would want. Seldom does a heifer make it out of our herd.
