Here is the design . A place I used to rent had one just like this and it was very user friendly.

Nice size layout and good straight line runs too.
Do you use a squeeze too or just the head gate?

Nice size layout and good straight line runs too. Do you use a squeeze too or just the head gate? I do not have a squeeze at the moment. One day I will find a deal on one and just add it in front of the chute. The side gate goes in and latches to the other side and makes a small triangle , looks good for little calves. I will probably build a insert to go in it for working larger calves.

Got rid of my Preifert squeeze last month when a relative offered me a good price on it. Rarely used it anyway...just used the headgate. I did weld some heavy expanded metal down where their front hooves are when in the headgate. Kinda hard for them to try and pick up on the headgate and panels when they are standing on it as one solid piece all attached together.

Nice setup. Do you have any problems getting them into pens? Would be very easy to add a squeeze gate in your entrance pen to hold one tight if needed.

Had ,1 400# calf that I missed banding a couple months ago and 8 baby calves ran through this afternoon. Everything flowed good , only on mistake I welded my entry gate on wrong side if I swing one side in to pinch little calves. No way to block the alley. I added a slide gate halfway down the chute yesterday but didn't take a pic

Looks good. We used a frame similar to that with a head catch bolted to the front too for years. Greybeard had a good idea about something under it. You will probably have it attached to posts or something so it may not be as much problem. We just had ours set up at the side of a barn shed door and the feeders cattle that they ran through it would walk it out place sometimes.

Looks really good and don’t you love it when you use it the first time and find out it works! Obviously you thought it out really well before building. Hard work getting it done but so worth the effort!
