With last nights 9 deliveries, we have peaked just over 100 calves. So far, so good.
We bred to Hickok, Broken Bow, Amplify, Supercharger, Bar R Jet Black, Bubs Southern Charm, and a few miscellaneous like EB Teddy (Resource son). I know I’m forgetting a few sires but those would have been on cows and we’re just getting thru heifers and starting our embryo calves. 13 calves so far from that and they’re due within next few days.
Have bitter cold sweeping in. Car said -2 this morning. Ice overnight. I think often, how fortunate we are to have the facilities we do, to calve in this weather. But I worry about the calves that get turned out.

I see you left the latest and greatest Mr America off your list completely. I guess you didn't rate high enough on the buddy list.

It’s difficult to have these swings in temps. I’m glad however that the ground is finally froze. Been busy blading off all the pens to nick off the sharp edges from the mud we had, just last week.

We are colder and sleet this morning. Next week will be pretty cold for around here. Makes me feel better about it all to hear how cold it is up north.

126 as of yesterday mid-day. Had 11 more since with 2 more calving now. Once they’re tagged and worked, I am sorting the other heavy’s to see if anything looks close-up. Tomorrow, a crew is coming to clip our spring bulls. I am well above 50% on our ETs so far but we’ll be calving them thru 3rd week of February. So I’m trying not to get too excited. We are having better luck with one donors embryos than another. That has peaked my curiosity some. Both would have been implanted at same time and moved to pasture at same.

Momma was balling. I looked everywhere for her calf. I started walking permitter and found calf prints beyond the hot wire. Followed that as far as I could and didn’t see him. So I jumped back in my Jeep and decided I’d head out and look from bridge but momma came right up to me and I looked over and sure enough... there he was. Down a 30+foot embankment. He’s been reunited. Thank God the mommas let you know they need help. vm.tiktok.com/4SAnNV/
