It sure is purdy in those places but, to be honest, I don't want to live anywhere else but this little piece of swamp in North Central Florida. I'd go as far to say, I don't even have an urge to see anything outside of Florida again. Seen a lot in my younger years, enough to be satisfied. Used to have some relatives in central and southwest Florida, always thought I’d like to retire in some capacity and live there. It’s probably my favorite place but after looking at land prices there I don’t think that move will happen. It's more reasonable when you get in the northern parts.

I've often thought that when I retire I'd like to have a place somewhere warm I could spend a few months at during the winter. There's about 8 months a year I wouldn't be anywhere but right here. I don't know how folks and their livestock can survive where it gets so hot in the summer time. This feller aint interested lol, but I am glad that people do decide to live in these hot places, it makes more room for me right here.

Amen Silver. I suffer thru the summers here but momma won’t leave yet. Snakes I can handle but screw ticks and mosquitoes. Ned Jr. Has got the dream place in my opinion. He doesn’t post much but when he does post a picture it is like a postcard. Dave’s spot ain’t to shabby either needs about 15-20” more rain a year. Your right about Ned's area..they have mountains on top of mountains..

I enjoy pictures but right here is the most beautiful place to me. If I could only get rid of winter it would be even better.

I lived on the Washington coast for years. Lived with 60 inches + of rain annually. I am really happy with 10 inches of annual rainfall. I do have unlimited irrigation water that gets spread for free.

no. I view them like communists, socialists, govt lackeys and liberals... don't like 'em but I'm not afraid of 'em.

Spiders don't bother me at all, not "afraid" of snakes although, I may high step once or twice when our paths cross unexpectedly. After the initial surprise I'm good.

Jackson hole area of Wyoming is pretty amazing too. I need just a little more green on the hills Dave. It is nice to be able to water what, when, and where you want come hay season though. You boys in Florida are safe for my part, glad you like it but you can keep it.

Florida is definitely a tale of two cities. Old Florida is disappearing. Still a few places around me to get that old Florida feel. Up around where Dash lives it's all Old Florida, nice country. Not a fan of the tourist and beach parts or anything south of Gainesville except maybe the glades/Okeechobee area.
Once you get past the snakes, gators, bugs, swamps, heat and the fact that breathing through a bowl a soup is a common occurrence, there ain't a better place to be.

You left out hurricanes Layne, in 2004 Frances and then Jeanne made me say screw Florida, and then in 2005 Wilma made my wife finally decide to leave Florida. If you happen to be in a Hurricanes path or ever have one stall over you for almost day, the party is over.
