I have come to the conclusion that Nesikep lives in the most beautiful spot in the world. It is just beautiful how those great mountains are around his cattle and his home. Maybe he will put a few of his best pictures up. I remember so many of them from the other forum. I would like to see them again Nesikep when you have time.

Yes all Nesikep pictures are beautiful, but those pictures with the snow make me realize I'm right where I need to be.

Yes all Nesikep pictures are beautiful, but those pictures with the snow make me realize I'm right where I need to be. I think you summed it up good. I think it’s beautiful landscape there for sure, but I absolutely hate winter so I would not want to live any further north than I do now, in fact this is too far for about 3 months of the year.

I love large open areas of land in areas like where he lives. Often I see the same list of things that keep people from flocking there. Often it has a lot to do with the temps of the winter, and snow. I think that I could get used to it all although I am at an age where I get cold. Each time I go outside now, I dread getting cold like I cannot learn from the day before. Each time I go out, I realize I often over dress and get hot outside taking care of the livestock. So it shows that I go through the same stupid thought thinking I will get cold. Duh!!!! My Muck boots with wool socks keep my feet at a perfect constant temp. Just like CTC said, if her feet and hands get cold, then she is cold all over. Me too! The Muck boots are great for cold mud, but they break down enough at the seams where the cloth meets the rubber. Mud does not creep into the cracks, but water will.
I wear insulated underwear, flannel jeans and a very warm Cabelea's camo coat for hunting. I wear that thing that fits around your neck to keep the cold out, and a pair of ear muffs. Only when the wind is blowing do I put a cap over the top of the ear muffs. Usually I am dressed so warm that if I cover my head, then I absolutely burn up. So I guess my head is my radiator. Often when I walk in the back door, I get so hot that I cannot shuck all that mess off fast enough to cool off. Ha-ha-ha!!
During the winter, I pretty much walk around the house with my insulated underwear on. I live just far enough inland that the cold here keeps all those leaving the North for a warmer Florida winter just keep on passing by.

Running around the house in insulated underwear. Bet that's a site. I guess you mean under the clothes but that's not the picture that came to mind. Lol

I often just wear the insulated underwear. Sometimes I put a t shirt over the top because I get cool. I keep the house at 68* which feels cool for the winter. But my heating bills are staying under $60 a month. I have several sets of long johns and often in different colors. It is just me and my husband, so it is not a big deal. Yes, I probably look like a turkey in the suit, but it is just so comfortable to me.

$60 a month is a dream. How do you manage that

My utility bill used to be much higher. But after they put in the self reading meters on the side of the house, the bills went down drastically. I am all electric except for a propane cook top. I was afraid they had installed a meter that was not working correctly. I asked several other people and they said their bills were much lower now. One guy said that his last bill was $70. I was getting nervous as I was getting ready for them to tell me I owed them a lot more because of a faulty meter. Maybe not having to pay someone to come each month to come read the dial has helped lower it. What ever they are doing is working great. My summer bills often are in the range of $40. So, I am just going to keep my mouth shut as I don't want them to tell me that it will soon change or make them think I am so excited about my lower bills that they may raise them.

I wouldn't disagree with you Chuckie. He has some great pictures. Another place that might make the list where I wouldn't to live, but is worth a visit is Mission Ranch just outside of Carmel, CA. It's still a working ranch from what I understand. Clint Eastwood has a motel there he frequents pretty often. It's right out of a dream.

That is a beautiful view for sure. That would be a piece of property that I could never obtain because of the costs. Even the mountain land is going up now. Everyone wants you to plan on making building sites of it all. I have a feeling that I am going to die on my flat land property. It is not a bad place at all, but we do often yearn for what we do not have. I drove by the Gulf of Mexico for a few minutes, and that is as close as I have ever got to the ocean. I would love to walk on that beach and feel the warm sand on my feet.

It sure is purdy in those places but, to be honest, I don't want to live anywhere else but this little piece of swamp in North Central Florida.
I'd go as far to say, I don't even have an urge to see anything outside of Florida again. Seen a lot in my younger years, enough to be satisfied.

Amen Silver. I suffer thru the summers here but momma won’t leave yet. Snakes I can handle but screw ticks and mosquitoes. Ned Jr. Has got the dream place in my opinion. He doesn’t post much but when he does post a picture it is like a postcard. Dave’s spot ain’t to shabby either needs about 15-20” more rain a year.

Used to have some relatives in central and southwest Florida, always thought I’d like to retire in some capacity and live there. It’s probably my favorite place but after looking at land prices there I don’t think that move will happen.

I don’t particularly like the spiders, but my wife hates them. She hollers for me to come deal with a spider ever few days it seems. I was walking from the barn to the house and had to make a good snake around the first of November.
