Ahhh, this morning the sun was shining. Redwing Blackbirds were singing. Ducks and geese trading up and down the valley quacking and honking away. But yesterday the first branding of the spring got canceled about three quarters of the way through because of a heavy rain snow mixture that was falling. This morning the hill behind the house had a fresh layer of snow. Sunny about noon I decided to go pick up some grass seed. Half way there and there was an inch of snow on the freeway and snowing hard. I decided that I wasn't planting grass today anyway so I turned around. Around 4:00 I fed the heifers. The sun was out the whole time. When I came back in the house the wife decided to take her dog for a walk. Came back 30 minutes later and said she got snowed on every step of the way. You got to love early spring weather in Eastern Oregon. If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes. It will change.

It's beautiful out there in the pictures you post Dave. But I've been wearing shorts and tee shirts for 3 weeks. This morning it's a cool 58, perfect morning for shorts, long sleeve t shirt and sunglasses.

The sun is just now rising here. Very few clouds in the sky. Looks like mostly blue sky. But the thermometer on the porch says it is 20 degrees out. A little chilly but it will warm right up once the sun hits us. No big deal. I never wear short, even when it is 100 degrees in August. I don't think I even own a pair of shorts.

Not a cloud in the sky here and they say it may break 90F. Had to run the AC last night and it still got warm. Gotta crank her down another couple of degrees tonight.

OK, 90 degrees is a hot day here in July or August. Way too hot for me. It is supposed to get to 51 here today. I went to the post office at about 9:30. It was spitting a few snow flakes. Very few flakes and nothing sticking. They are supposed to complete that branding that we didn't finish on Tuesday. Doing it at 1:00 this afternoon. I looked up the weather radar. No preconception within several hundred miles so maybe we will get it done. There is another branding scheduled for tomorrow. And at some point we need to run the 300 +/- steers through who are the mates to thos. heifers we spayed last week. They need their implants, long range, pick eye, and one other shot. If it would stop freezing every night the grass might just grow.
