The area around the barn is so wet and deep in mud that Otis, my cat cannot get out there. I am noticing quite a few mice, and when it dries up, he will be able to get back to work there. Often when I go to feed the cattle, I will find Otis sitting very still waiting for the mice to come out. Otis often will bring things up he has killed. He often brings up rats, voles and mice. He is a fine tuned killing machine. They have become bold with the horses in the barn. They are waiting between the slats as the horses eat, trying to dive in to get their feed. When the horse goes to the other end of the bunk, they dive down. There are sprinklings of distillers grain in a trough around the gravity flow wagon that keeps them around. I will be so glad when Otis can get back to work. secure images on website

I sit out in the barn with my pistol and shoot the mice, rats and squirrels. I call them liberals, freeloaders and deadbeats.
