Paper Mill here closed for 60-90 days. That shuts down 4 chip yards and maybe 50 logging companies. Normally they would just cut logs but 1 sawmill closed today, second one don't want any logs, and 2 more will just take logs from their current producers. Several hundred jobs will be idle.

Quarantine, or something else? The run on TP wasn't helpful?

The paper mill produces a high quality business type paper that they say isn't bring used since the virus hit. The sawmill has been struggling for a while. Can't sell the lumber.

I remember well back in '81 and '82. The timber market was in the toilet. They would let us work for a couple weeks and then send us home for a couple. And it seemed like every time they let us work a storm would blow in. You can't fall big timber in a strong wind. So between the economy and the weather it was a few mighty lean years.

At least with timber you can hold it if you don't like the price, and not have to feed it. I've had 3 bids on timber and $12.50 for pine, $6.50 for hard wood pulp and mid $20 for saw timber seems to be where the market is. The chip guy was talking less than $2 a ton. I'm letting it grow for the time being. I'm getting very depressed because of all the China flu BS, I'm needing to go on a road trip but not sure how smart that would be.

Bring your camper and go to the mountain. Turkey season comes in Saturday. No phone, no internet, the world could end and you wouldn't know it.
