Put in a huge garden for decades. Moved to a smaller place a few years ago and getting long in the tooth. Thinking about putting in a number of contained beds. Any advice?

Never plant a garden bigger than your wife will weed.

I've seen a couple here that are 55 gallon drums cut in half and layed lengthwise on stands like a feed trough. My concern would be that you would lose root area on either side but they look like they work okay. I had raised beds for a few years in CA. They were about two feet tall redwood boxes. Really the only advantage there was that I didn't bend allll the way over. There were less weeds because I filled them with sterile soil and compost but that could be done on flat ground too.
