Like it or not, the response to the virus and the created pandemonium has finally shown us taxpayers the obvious: brick and mortar schools, built with more tax money than absolutely necessary for looks and pride, are optional and not mandatory for children to learn. Education has become a business and a "giant sucking sound" on America's tax payers. Most of our county taxes are for the school district. Colleges and universities need more and better and bigger buildings and beg for state money and donations. I understand the hands-on part of learning. But what the home schoolers have known has now been publicly displayed. Will America adjust as it has adopted online shopping? I do not believe it will because the sports programs drive education and not the other way around. That is why the kids from other countries can come here and outdo our average student. They studied more and played less. Just an opinion.
