I have been eyeballing a new pair of LaCrosse short rubber boots to wear to the barn. They only want $70 a pair of them. I have two old pair of Muck brand boots, where the neoprene has pulled loose from the rubber, and wearing them in water is like turning on the water hose in my boot.
I wore one pair out to the barn and they were so hot. Then I got the bright idea to just cut the neoprene tops off and I would have a pair of short boots. I cut around the rubber part where the front and the back are high. They worked like a charm!! Now I can keep my $70 and I have some spiffy looking barn boots.
This year, I am going to have to make the dive and buy a new pair of tall LaCrosse boots. I am not sure if the run larger, smaller or the same size as the Mucks do. The Mucks come in half sizes and whole. But the LaCrosse only come in whole sizes.

Good idea. I have the same problem with muck boots. I like them but I reckon I’m hard on them I toughed most of this winter out with leaks in mine where they join together. Wore grocery bags over my feet till finally got too tired of it. Got another pair and am trying to be cautious with them. I used to wear a lined lacrosse rubber boot but then I couldn’t find that kind. Ordered them from Jeffers vet supply sometimes I believe. That was around 30 years ago. They were just a plain basic rubber boot with a little bit of lining. They weren’t as detailed of fitting as the mucks nor as warm but were the best things I could find at that time. I think I remember wearing a size larger in them than I do now with muck boots but that could have been due to not having a smaller size for my feet.

I bought a pair of ariat rubber boots a couple three years ago. Still in good shape and still water tight.

Get a pair of Tingley boots next time. I used to wear the tread out on them walking an average of eleven miles a day on dairies but I've never had a leak out of them. The pair I have now probably had five hundred miles on them when I quit breeding cows five years ago and they're still going strong. They are as comfortable as a tennis shoe and have really good grip.

I thought Mucks only came in full sizes? That's why I ended up with Noble Outfitters (for winter). In the summer months I just wear the cheap rubber boots from Orscheln if it's really wet or dewy in the morning - I'm gonna get sweaty anyway.

The Muck boots are so warm and tall. My foot has never been cold wearing the Mucks, but it looks like they have a LaCrosse lined boot. One man told me that his feet never get cold in them. My feet will get cold, and then my whole body is cold.
There is so much mud here as it is deep and lots of water.
I wonder if anyone has tried the lined LaCrosse and liked them? Those Muck boots fit so well that I hate to give them up. They fit great around the ankle.
