It was about 90 days out before this hit. Not sure where it's at right now. We have an appointment for June 15 that we've had most of the winter. Will update if we find out more.

We bring our fats in the end of August and make our appointment for the following year in August again, the only difference this year is I will probably double my freezer beef appointment for next year.

Friend of mine has 2 steers and can't get in until November. Well, there's one other place that could get them in September but they don't age 'em.

Local small butcher we use here is now booked into FEBRUARY.... had an appt booked for July that we made in Feb of this year, then had a couple of people wanting some beef so called back about mid march and he gave us one date in January and another in February. I had planned to call to get my jersey steer done early this winter. Not going to happen now. He is just a year, so I have some time but WOW. Have heard from several others that it is into dec or jan elsewhere. Crazy times.... and not a freezer to be found to buy anywhere.

Only one outfit in the county. They do farm slaughter. A month or so ago I bought a fat heifer on Wednesday. Called them when I got home. They came and slaughtered her on Friday. Two weeks later they called, the meat was ready.

Interesting, I don't remember ever hearing of that being done commercially before. What kind of outfit do they use? How does the price compare to the 5-600 dollar charge that we pay for just simple processing?

Here they must be able to walk off the trailer or I can't get them processed.

Most of the trucks in CA were just a long bed pickup with a boom to lift the carcass and lay it in the bed.
