We have a golf cart we use for moving around the place. We got it used and after a carburetor it's been reliably in use the last 3 years. Yesterday I was in the hay field and my wife rode it out. She went to leave and wouldn't start. Starter engages, battery seems strong. The belt from the starter to the motor slips on the starter pulley. It acts like the motor is stuck. I tried turning it over by turning the big drive pulley but can't get it to move? Should I be able to like that. I'm not a mechanic at all, and golf cart is so unlike anything I do have experience with that I'm not sure what's going on. It seems if the motor had froze it would have been noticeable. It was running fine until parked. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

try to tap the starter itself with a hammer a few times.

The starter is working. The belt isn't tight though so that pulley just spins inside it. I'm not sure how tight that belt should be. The starter is mounted such that it's the tensioner. Rock it away from the motor and it tightens the belt. I tightened that some but ran out of threads before the belt seemed tight. I've not had any trouble out of it so I'm not very familiar with it. All I've done is put gas in it, check/change the oil, and I've blown out the air filter a few times (probably should have changed it by now).

can you push the entire cart by hand.. will it move?
motor might be seized if you can't move the crank pulley
i'm not a mechanic but if you can't get the crank pulley to move.. i'd fill the spark plug hole up with PB blaster .. let it sit 20 minutes and then get a breaker bar and try to get the main pulley to turn. motor might be stuck but you might be able to free it.

What kind of transmission does it have? Could the centrifugal clutch have not released and maybe a parking brake is on, too? Have a hard time believing the motor seized if the oil level is okay.

It's an ezgo, so not the same as the video but same idea. The brake isn't set. If you put it in neutral (selector in middle between forward and reverse) you can push it. I can't get the crank pulley to turn. Whats the odds it would seize right when it was shut off and not be noticed? It was fine when she pulled up, went to leave and nothing. Oil was a little low between full and add on the dipstick. I didn't mess with it today, but I'll report back here when I do. I really appreciate your help.
