Neither. Duramax. Very few treat one as bad as I do and they just donāt give any trouble. Ford couldnāt begin to hold up and the one dodge here couldnāt either. Always gotta be one fella that don't know what he's talking about. ššš

Always gotta be one fella that don't know what he's talking about. ššš How many miles in what conditions you put on one a year? Put roughly 50K on just the one that pulls my 25K lb race trailer alone. Put another 25 to 30 on one that pulls everything from 30 foot flatbed on down. You can not beat a deleted 6.7 Cummins if you really work one.

I put 45K a year on mine in mostly dust, mud and rough gravel roads or even worse field roads. Usually donāt shut off all day either. The dust we run in here is like fine talcum power. I donāt have to delete either. Not till the dfp is full. Theres nothing wrong with the Cummins, itās the rest of the truck thatās wrapped around it. Them and the fords just donāt hold up. And dealer support here for ford and dodge is nonexistent.

I've always heard the Cummins is a 1,000,000 mile motor. Too bad they put it in a 50,000 mile truck.

But the truck itself still leaves a lot to be desired. Overall Iām satisfied. Chevrolet and Ford just got too āfancyā with their trucks. They are all overpriced, especially used ones. Up until this RAM, I had always driven Chevrolet 1/2 tons. If it werenāt for my goosenecks, thatās what Iād go back to.

Around here itās the Dmaxs that donāt hold up. I only know of 5-6 anywhere around here that work only ones you see are in pretty boy trucks. I donāt doubt Jed works his but you donāt see many dirty ones here.
You looked at them all day yesterday you getting any closer to figuring out what you want?

I'd be short about ten thousand pounds on cargo. I donāt ever look at that. About 23,000 on a trailer is all I ever do. For more than that Iād want a dually. Or my Peterbilt. But here almost all the working trucks are duramax, they have very little shop time whereas the fords and dodges live there if they are used off highway. Ford front end canāt hold up Andy of course you never know when they will sabotage their engine. Dodge just tears itself apart. And for the record I like Ford, as far as driving them and setting in them.

My 2006 Duramax was the highest maintenance diesel engine that I've ever owned. I know nothing about the new GM trucks but the older one's you couldn't keep a front end in them. Do you still trade trucks ever other year Jed? We've had really good luck with both of our Ram trucks, I haven't owned a Dodge truck since 89 and the Cummins was bullet proof and the truck was crap.

I had a 06 I bought used, never spent anything on it. New Iāve had a 12, 15 and 18. One of them had two sensors go out and they were under warranty. I bought a 10 used and kept it till 275,000. Had to to delete it cause the dfp stopped up. Had a real idiot driving it, anything else was a direct result of him. I donāt trade every two years but pretty often. Depends on what they offer trade difference. Up till these I was always spending money on trucks, new or older. Lot of trucks Iāve had I was spending as much or more a year as I was on payments. We are extremely hard on trucks in this area. Back in the early 2,000ās Ford stopped all dealers except one in the area from doing warranty work on the 7.3ās. Every single one here was dusted out before 100,000. Or I should say everyone that was on a farm. The ones that stayed on the highway ran and ran. I had a 7.3 and a 6.0 too.

Ford it is. I don't think I'd be wrong either way. I almost jumped on a 2018 Dodge but found out that there are two different Aison transmissions that they are putting in them at the last minute and it's a significant difference in combined weight rating. They found a truck that would work but Ford had a lot of options that worked for two hundred dollars cheaper than the Dodge and an extra 1500 pounds of combined weight rating. I talked to the service manager as they work on all makes and models and he said he thought the Ford 6.7 was every bit as reliable as the Cummins but to get the 2019 before they made transmission changes for 2020.

Make sure you tint the windows so people can't see you driving it. You don't want them to pick on your kids because you drive a Ford.
