I finished up my corral update. Not a Silencer chute. I have a manual Powder River chute with a Prefierts palp cage, and old Powder River alley, and a Big Valley sweep. But what I have been working on is a RR tie and lodgepole pine sorting pens and alleys. It has an assortment of gates that I brought from my old place on the coast.
Alley to the right goes to the sweep. To the left goes to sorting pens and loading alley.
Man gate by the chute.
Man gate at the sweep. This was at the wife's request. Something about having to walk to far too many times in her life.
Gate to sorting pen #1. The gate in pen #2 is swung around against the fence.
Sun in the eyes. Gate swings out to put critters coming from sorting pens into the sweep. Sweep gate is to the left.

The loading alley being used for the first time. Every thing worked great. Loaded out 55 cows, a bull, and 7 calves over the last couple days without a hitch. Really the only issue is that when I irrigate the field above this things get a little wet in the pens. Old former owner is quoted to have said if you can't float a duck in this corral you aren't irrigating enough. I have dug a couple ditches which help catch surface water and with drainage but there is still some subsurface water that wells up in this area. One of these Eastern Oregon desert kids complained about getting his feet wet. Wont normally be loading out cattle during irrigation season.

That looks like a good setup to me. It sounds nice that it all worked out perfectly when you ran your first group through. When you struggle a bit before needed something that works, it is nice to have what you have built.
Sure would like to irrigate my fields. Mostly my hay field. Proud for you Dave!!
