My fiance sent an eight year old gelding to me when her daughter moved here a couple of months ago. He's a big bay Driftwood bred horse. He had an injury a few years ago so he's not 100% sound. Maybe 95%. My daughter can walk out the door and call him and he sticks his head in a halter for her. She can drop the lead rope and he stands there and waits for her. He'll sidepass up to the porch ledge for her to get on without being told. He goes anywhere you point him and he's the exact same horse every time she gets on him. He's trained in the barrel pattern and runs hard without getting antsy. He's sound enough I can rope something on him as needed. He's held calves in the pasture and roped both ends in the arena. You can't spook him. He doesn't set back. He's good with his feet. You can ride double, bareback, put little kids on him and turn him loose... I think this is the first horse I've ever had that is "not for sale".

Those that are truely that way are hard to come by. Seems there's always a hole in them, but in your case it seems like it's a non issue. I'd lot prefer to have one with a little gimp occasionally, than one that blows and sucks back or runs off, with kids around. They are gems for those little ones to learn on.

Those are hard to come by and nobody wants to pay what they are worth. $150k for one that moves pretty in a show ring but ain’t worth a darn for anything else is ok tho. Funny how you can own a lot of good one over the years but there is one comes along that is nothing special but sure is something special.

Sounds like a great horse to me. Anytime I have had a horse that I was completely satisfied with; I knew that if I sold it, I would regret it because you cannot always replace it with double the money. And of course, I fall in love with my horse if it is a good one.
Funny how these threads are here, and I don't always see them. Sorry for such a late response!!
