looking at putting some pipe fence and gates. people coming into some bottom ground with trucks, tearing it up. might put in wood posts if the pipe is going to be too difficult.
Is their a cheap welder I can use to weld it up or should I call a rental store and see if I can get one? I have a stick welder but my generator is only 3500 watts. I doubt it will run it. Maybe rent a large generator ?
i was thinking of putting in 2 gates instead of 1. that way if they push it with a truck the chain will take a lot of the pressure? thoughts?

I'd say try to rent a bigger generator. We have a PTO unit and stick welder that works good for that. Can you get railroad ties reasonable down there? The 2 gates together are only a PITA trying to shut them in a wind storm.

might be able to get some ties somewhere, I haven't looked. I need to run to a few places and see what they are working with around here, I know there is a lot of pipe around.

I've welded a lot of pipe fence and I'd recommend a 6010+ rod. It doesn't mind the rust and crud on the pipe! I have an old Miller AEAD-200LE that just won't give up. Keep it in the back of a seldom used PU.

I put off getting a good welder way too long. The Bobcat 225 does just about everything I need it to do and its going on 10 years now with no issues.
