need to put 2 hay wagon beds together.
I have some wood posts laying around to use.. but with lumber being insane right now I was thinking of putting pipe fence down.. spaced around 4' apart?
Questions: Does that spacing seem about right for 4x5 bales?
Do you think this is a good idea? I was just going to bend some steel to make some brackets and bolt them through the beams. They will probably "walk" side to side so I will spot weld them to the brackets.
thoughts?

a hay wagon with some 6x6 posts connecting both ends. pipe laid the opposite way spaced about 4' apart going down the beams. hay to sit inbetween the pipes.

I would think 4’ might be a bit far for 5’ bales. I would think more like 3’ centers if I understand your design right.

got 2 built. they work out pretty well. looks like around 27" apart works well for a 4x5 bale.
