If I take some of the fresh dewberrys and put in some clear licker will if be worth it . I tried watermelon last yr and it was nasty

I don't know much about shine but I have made alot of beer and I would guess that the high moisture plus sugar content in the melon dropped the alcohol content low enough that you got a wild fermentation with sugar to feed it that threw off the whole batch. Berries work better because the flavor is concentrated without a lot of extra moisture so the proof doesn't change much.

I buy it with blackberries in it but when I try to do it myself it never is as good. I done some red raspberries last year and it sure looked pretty but didn't change the taste much.

I took a jelly jar and filled it with dew berries and covered it in shine. Its real pretty but I have not tried it yet

You need to cook them down some and just use the juice. Little brown sugar and a cimnamon stick or two. Let it cool down before adding to liquor.
