Well dang it. A kid engineer pulled a grandfather clock out of the dumpster today. I have no idea what make or model. He's bringing it to me. I hope its at least 100 years old.
I have successfully put 17 of them back in service and they will have you pulling your hair out. I have a couple that I just cannot get to work.
So it looks like another tinkering project. Frustrating as hell to work on but you are in jubilee when the damn things actually run days later.

This thread is going to need photos BB. I've got videos of them working, without covers on them. Pretty interesting how each little piece works. No electricity whatsoever. All mechanical. But rest assured I could bore you to tears with video. I had one in particular that almost got a sledge hammer thru it several times. Frustrating. Fix this, fix that, and it still doesn't work. Someone had pulled the face and put it back using safety pins for pins. I couldn't find carter pins or anything small enough so I turned pins on a grinder. Pain in the ass. Three solid days working on it. It works now. Chimes are beautiful. When it all comes together, its a wonderful feeling. Pretty miserable up to that point.

But rest assured I could bore you to tears with video. Maybe, but I like learning how things work Boogie. I can get pretty focused, which is good and bad.

Boogie, weren't you the one building cedar chests? Yes sir. Built them for all the grandkiddoes. boys and girls. I'm really proud of them. You have a good memory.
Funny thing is I kept all the cedar scraps. Its been a few years now. I broke them out, broke out the planer, glued pieces together and built a cedar bee hive box this weekend. A deep. More learning curve for me but the next one should be easier. All those short pieces of cedar are about to meet their maker now. Clear them out of the shed.
