Back in highschool for show pigs I would just go to the lot that had the size I wanted and pen it up. Spend a couple days training it and off to the fairgrounds we would go. Things sure have changed. Now days it's like being an Angus specialist. You gotta use SAV Oinker semen purchased from Pigster

Must admit, that wasn't my barn, or my pigs. I was just the one that had to do everything for some saltine crackers, and a cardboard box to sleep in as payment.

They wouldn't eat pork if they really knew what all a 'free range' hog ate. My dad had a deal with a local cafe to get their table leftovers every other day..we got it one day, someone else had the deal for the next day. The kitchen left it out back in some steel trashcans. I'm not sure how they stayed in business....In a few months, we had a full 5 gal bucket of spoons, forks and knives the kitchen just scraped into the slop buckets along with the scraps and about 1/2 doz plates and assorted long handled serving spoons..

A buddy of mine is going to experiment and cross Mangalitsa with Berkshire. He already has an in with some of the bigger chefs in the DFW area with his dairy and thinks he can create another market with them with this cross as they already buy his Berkshire. I'm pretty interested in eating one of those chops myself.

Heck we got some many free range ones around here we must be hurting the pork industry because the usda is giving us money to eradicate them.
