I have seen these drills on Craig's quite often and just couldn't pull the trigger on one. Not real fond of the 20" spacing but when I found one today for 350 I bought it. I sent one of my delivery drivers to pick it up and I am very pleased. It has either been converted or they made a few with double opening coulters like regular grain drills. It also has the scalloped coulter in front of them. I went ahead and bought new coulters today. The ones on it were wore out. 3 boxes and looks like it's been barn kept for 55yrs or so. I'll post some pics tomorrow

Haha not quite. I got it home today , front fertilizer hopper has never had anything in it , paint is just like it was from factory 50 some odd yrs ago. I removed the coulters and seen why they put them on. The feet were worn off. I picked up 4 ripper shank tips today. I cut them to fit and gonna pick up some 1/4 x 4" flat bar tomorrow to scab over the drop tubes. It will take about an hour to fix that. I put possum piss on all the bolts. I found a guy online that emailed me a copy of the original owners manual , pretty cool and the reasoning for the 20" rows is n it. I gonna plant some sunflower with it Saturday. I really like how it's set up. The front bin puts a band of fertilizer about 2" below the seed. I know if I run fertilizer thru it it will shorten its life.

Wash it out good and keep it sprayed with a stop rust and it should last as long as you.

I was wondering if I used stable rust after fertilizer being in it if it would help.

I'll get the name of the stuff I use in my drop spreader. It works pretty good. I put it in a little pump up sprayer.

I got it home yesterday and started on the repairs. Someone did an excellent job of putting coulters on it and that would work if the Boots were flexible just too much downward pressure and the hubs cant take it. The shoe had been removed so I had to come up with another one. I bought 4 ripper foot points. I cut them to match the face of the boot the tip is approx. 3/4 lower than the heal , that is what was in the manual, A couple of the boots are worn where they make ground contact. I will get some 4" flat bar today to scab over both sides. I did not get any pics last night it was dark when I got the feet/shoe welded on. a side note is the front box / fertilizer box has never had anything in it . all paint is exactly as it would have been 50 some odd yrs ago when it came from the factory . Im gonna lower the front coulters to the last notch for my experimenting phase but will replace them before fall. A greatplains wavy coulter will fit the hub.

did some test planting with sunflower seed. I tested it in prepared seed bed, pasture and in wet pasture around the pond. I am impressed as to the adaptability of the different soil types. I feel it will be best to plant pastures with a little moisture in them.
