I brought the limousins up this morning and did some sorting and ran a few through the alley to hit the heifers with lut and put cidrs in the wet cows. It was like herding cats. These things are so gentle their flight space is me poking them in the ribs with my finger and they just kind of wander around and sniff stuff. I'd be sorting and have one walk up behind me and lick me. I wound up doing everything I had to do in the alley because I was getting worn out twisting tails trying to get them in the chute. I never thought I'd say this but my limousins are the gentlest set of cattle I've ever had. That breed has come a long way. I'm actually considering using some lower docility bulls to get them to where they'll move a little faster and none of these cattle are docility standouts EPD wise.

Could be worse problems to have I reckon. Maybe put a little yapping dog in the pen with em to get them riled up a bit.

Going to set 10 up starting Wednesday. Have a friend going to help me with the breeding. He was pretty impressed with how gentle our herd is. Caleb I got some semen that will warm there blood a little.

I used to AI some of my Jersey heifers from my dairy to a Limousine bull. Made some fine calves! Kept some for replacements in my beef herd and some for freezer beef. If they had better milk yield, be one of the best breeds out there. IMO

I can agree with that, but the bull i used had a ww, and a low milk yield. But I had a polled HG black Limo bull, and some pure bred red limos ladies. None of them ever had a good milk yield IMO. But I’ve always liked the breed. And like any other breed now a days, they have came a long ways in the last 20 years.

Muscle and milk don't exactly go together. But limousin with milk are pretty common these days.
