I use a komado style grill, like the green egg ones. Mine is an Akorn from Lowe's. It's a fantastic grill/smoker. While it's the size of a regular BBQ grill it does actually cook a lot and maintains temps well. They are pretty good too. Especially with the guru that maintains the temp.

Electric heat, simple operation and makes incredible food. Its called Trail Embers. The metal chamber is pretty heavy guage, it automatically feeds the pellets and maintains the temp. If it holds up over time, I will be incredibly impressed. Even the reviews online are comparing to to the traeger smokers, at 1/3 the cost. Just throwing this out there, im case anyone is as vested in smoking quality food on a budget like I am.
Hook I did a brisket for the first time in my electric smoker. I didn't use a half cord of wood. Just about a quart of chips. My norm is to smoke one a couple of hours, then seal it in foil. By then it has had enough smoke. Four hours in this one wasn't ready for foil. So I didn't foil it. At all. I didn't spend all day adjusting dampers or trying to keep a fire in the box and hold the temp to a certain margin. You just set the temp and walk away. Very convenient. It looks like this thing could hold 3 briskets. I'm ready to do it again.

I have an Oklahoma Joe’s stick burner. I really struggled with it to begin with. The fire box is too small. By the time you get the temp right and a bed of coals you have to add more wood and get the dark bitter smoke.
Now I pile it full of wood and keep adding all it’ll hold till I get a box of coals. It’s does good for about four hours then you have to add wood and you get the dark bitter smoke. If it had a bigger firebox it’d solve that problem

The one I bought, the trail embers, blows it out of the water.

I don’t have much of a shelter for the smoker. Will it be a problem with the auger and etc if it gets wet ? Pellets swelling and clogging up ?

The pellet box has a pretty good lid on it with a good lip all the way around i would put a grill cover over it just to be safe
