With as wet as It's been this year the garden has been a real struggle but finally today for the first time this year I'm wondering how I'm going to eat it all. Keep in mind that last year at this time I was feeding a family of four and now it's just me half the time and me and the the kids half the time and I started wondering how we'd eat it all around mid May last year, but still... today I'm wondering how I'm gonna eat it all and that's a nice feeling.

This is our first garden here. With lots happening we were way late getting it planted. Some of it will make it before frost some probably won't. Corn was knee high by the fourth of July..... You just have to kneel down beside it to measure.

This is my first year in west central OK. Have spent most of the time removing Johnson grass and bind weed from the garden area. With the heavy rains it slowed down progress. So everything went in late. Then the tomatoes have been hit by tomato worms. Okra is looking good. Got the drip tape installed. Next year it will be rwady to go. Plan to develop another area for tomatoes.

Was a late year for us also, but we got a ton of tomatoes and peppers. We have neglected our weeding but still have a lot to pick and freeze. We did make some killer salsa this summer.

Because of the rains and snow, we also started later than usual this year. But that's okay, everything grows as it should. With fertilizer, lots of rain, everything is good in the garden. the kids are waiting for fruit because they are sick of apples already. I want strawberries, fresh, of my own, to make strawberry milk.

Ya'll make me jealous. I have two tomato plants. I would love to have a garden, but cannot stay bent over with my head down after a head injury. When I stand up, I fall over backwards. I went to pick peas one day and same thing. I was so embarrassed to tell the man what was going on and asked him to pick the peas and I would pay him for them. I felt that he was thinking I was just too lazy to do the work myself. I would love to have rows of Gurneys Candy Corn, purple hull peas, cabbage, tomatoes. What is odd, my husband will not eat anything that is green. Drives me crazy. I love cabbage cooked with a chunk of ham with a lot of pepper and sugar in it. I could eat it by itself.
I remember when I was a kid, my Mom would make us take 3 bites of everything. I did not understand why, but she was building our tastebuds. I am so glad that she pushed that. Many things I hated are now my favorite foods.

Many things I hated are now my favorite foods. I couldn't eat cabbage when I was young. But a lady that works for our office made some cabbage and corned beef. I made a bunch of sandwiches out of it that were real good. I put some cabbage on them with the corned beef. I think it was soda bread she made with it. I wish I could have planted a garden this year, but I got too many irons in the fire. But I'm already planning next year.
