Got the calf darted. First dart blew its load mid air, second bounced, 3rd stuck. I think the darts may be out of date Too bad nobody ever offered to sell ya a good roping horse......

How long after treatment does the white dot on the eye last?

How long after treatment does the white dot on the eye last? Sometimes a lifetime.

Fwiw, I've started darting with Rompun. Knock the calf down, he's mostly asleep. I can pull the dart out and give him a shot of Draxxin or LA and treat the eye. Had a hoof rot this last week that I darted. First two bounced off, third stuck. Sure glad they weren't carrying Draxxin. I can also apply UltraBoss or some sort of fly control. I hang around and make sure he gets up. Doesn't take long especially if you pester him a little and make some noise.

This has been a ridiculous year for pinkeye. We worked everything this spring. Including PI vac. Of 60 head, we've had 21 get pinkeye to date, since being vac'd. Treating w la300 or 200,depends what I have.
What's the deal w the vac doing shit for us. Different strain? Am I thinking foolishly by wondering if a custom vaccine would be better? Have a vet come get a sample from an infected animal, and make a strain specific vac. Am not sure if that's a thing or not.
Just know this is killing me right now. Every couple days having to corral the herd, which take a bit to get them there. Killing my time .
Hook, your PI issue died down?

I get a custom autogenous vaccine from my vet but I believe you can do it directly through Newport Labs. It's expensive but I can't remember the last time I had true pinkeye (as opposed to an eye abrasion) and doctoring 21 cattle - including your time & hassle - would be worth it IMO. www.newportlabs.com/products

Also know that an autogenous pinkeye vaccine will work for 2-3 years and the virus will mutate making the vaccine ineffective. LA 200 isn't working on pinkeye here this summer. I bought a bottle of Draxxin and hopefully it clears it up. What a royal PITA.
