They will make you lazy. We had one that was air powered, actually hooked to an air tank, it was a pump and you could by magazines with dissolving pellets of different drugs to dr cattle...I hated it, used it about 10 times and went back to roping them. Had to leave a massive injection site.

Darts are too expensive to get lazy. But doctoring one off calf or cow is worth what i paid

They're handy in a pinch but not real accurate. I worked at a feedlot cow/calf combination place briefly that was big on them. No telling how many cuts were destroyed by poor shot placement. Their arguement was that it was easier on the cattle but in all honesty the boss spent more time running them around on a gator trying to get a dart in them than we would have if we'd have roped them or even ran them through a chute. If you have gentle cattle that you can get close to and get it in the right spot every time then it's a great tool.

Darts are expensive, but I have found that in a lot of cases it's easier on us and the animal, as opposed to trying to get them up to the barn and separated out and ran through the chute.

I love mine. I’ll use it even in the lot to keep one cool. A 5 dollar dart isn’t much against a dead calf. And one animal saved pays for lots of darts and meds.

Went and checked and the dart fell out like it should. Wonder if ill ever find it though You may find it, but for us finding them is rare. We usually watch them for a few minutes to see if they do come out and if we can find them. It has been darn near impossible to find most of them even knowing the general area they fell out in. I always worry about finding them the hard way in cattle feet or a tire.

I find maybe 10% of them. I don’t even try. If I see one I pick it up.

I dont know why you’d want to waste time on them. I shoot probably a 100 a year and it’s just no big deal.

We have the .22
We can get darts for $18 now. My husband has only missed once and ours aims pretty good.
If you’re missing, get some practice darts and site her in.
If you’re wondering how to get $18 darts, go to stockman supply. I also get our blanks from amazon. Cheaper. The yellow tip blanks are the same they use for nail guns.
