I use the desk top mode to make it easier to post pictures, videos, etc while using my phone.
But trying to quote someone is difficult. But I found a cheat to keep the quotes separated.
In the bottom of the pic below, notice the preview vs BBCode tabs.
If you are using a mobile, click BBcode.
Then you can make sure that what you type is outside of the quoted area.
The text will look like this:
It's really just one click.
