As much as I love hybrid Bermuda. Army worms and stem maggot's love it more. Got a new hatch of worms and enough to warrant spraying. Why they won't eat crab grass and help us both idk. Still a little windy this morning from Barry so I'm gonna nuke em late this afternoon.

Just finished my second cutting 10 days ago. Haven’t had any yet but I’m gonna spray next week with Dimlin and Baythroid and cross my fingers that I can get number 3 out without any problems. Here, it’s when, not if you’re gonna have them. Sure it’s the same for you. Those dam stem maggots are worse than the worms IMO.

Found maggot sign yesterday. I guess I'm just gonna start spraying as preventive maintenance.

That’s what I done. Don’t really like it but the past couple of years the maggots were doing too much damage before I realized it. Them little bastards make a mess quick. The worms aren’t much better but I can stay on top of them. The spray is fairly inexpensive. The labor isn’t. But I guess it’s the nature of the beast.

Checked several areas today did find a few small ones in one area and some dead ones so hopefully will hold them at Bay for a week. One of the best crops I have made

Just watch it and worse case scenario cut a few days early. IIRC, the treatment threshold is more than 3 worms per sq ft. I think you will be fine. The 3rd cutting always gives me the hardest time. Thankfully, I’ve almost got what I need this year as far as hay. I only need about 150 more rolls and I’ve got 75 acres of hay so I hope I’ve survived another year.
