Been feeling real bad for a couple of weeks, but I just been powering through it. Finally went to Dr this morning, initial diagnosis is tick fever or lyme disease. Waiting on more lab work, just started on some super duper high powered antibiotics. Anyone else ever had either one?

Oldest boy had it(Lyme's) when was around kindergarten age. It had effects for several years. Shouldn't be as bad in a adult I would like to think. Good luck

Yup. STARI - Southern Tick Associated Rash Illness. Spread by the Lone Star tick (with the white spot in the middle). That was the first time my husband had ever seen me cry in pain and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I was flat out for 6 weeks. Similar to Lyme & can cause allergies to meat, which fortunately didn't affect me. Neighbor recently got out of the hospital from a tick disease. He doesn't even know what kind of tick (probably dog) but didn't respond to doxycycline and ended up with a port for infusions twice a day because the illness segued into cellulitis. Still had to go to the hospital twice a day for another week after he was released for the infusions.
Best of luck, hoping the antibiotics kick in & kick butt.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully those antibiotics will knock it out.

Theres markers in your blood that they will test for, but the antibiotics should knock it out. 2 weeks to a months worth usually.

Dang. That’s unfortunate Bill. Hope the antibiotics knock it on out. Lyme disease can cause an array of symptoms and issues. Had a friend that had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Antibiotics cleared it up. Hope the best for you my friend.

It's bad around here. I know several people with red meat allergies from it. If you start complaining about beef we're gonna kick you off the board, just so you know...

Well I got confirmation this morning, I have contracted it. It ain't the end of the world, at least it's not fatal. I'll just deal with it like anything else.

My mom had Lyme and had re-occurances for several years. My son got it about 3-4 years ago. Took several rounds of anti-biotics. Makes you feel like you are sloughing through mud. Extreme tiredness and achy. He had issues with bright sun like a migraine. Has had 3 more bouts with it. On anti-biotics each time. It is really chronic after that. You can live with it but some people have some bad problems with it. One thing, REST is essential for your body to help fight it. "Powering through it" to any extreme is actually detrimental. You have to get enough rest so that the antibiotics can work and your body can garner the strength to fight it. You never get 100% over it. There are a few naturopathic doctors that have said they can do more than just the antibiotic route. It is getting very common here in the east and has moved from CT where it was discovered to most states in the east.

Dang, I hate to hear that. Like Jan said, rest is essential. And from now on Deet 40 & permethrin are your best friends. Sending luck for the best possible recovery.
