I went to the doctor for a DOT physical about a week ago. I go to church with him and we've had dinner together a few times. It's the first time I've been to a doctor other than the ER in around twenty five years. All of a sudden I have high blood pressure, need to lose about fifteen pounds, quit chewing, drinking beer and cut salt out of my diet. And he wants me to come back to check my hearing for deterioration. He used a lot of phrases like "typical age related issues". I woke up this morning about half crippled. I wrenched my hip picking up a trailer tongue that had fallen of the stand. It took me a while to get moving right. He called me while I was trying to get down the stairs and asked me how my blood pressure was doing and wanted me to come in so he could check it and said he could help with my hip. I told him hell no. I was perfectly young and healthy right up until I went to see him and things just keep getting worse since then. I ain't goin back until it's required by law in two more years. I'm telling you, folks, people that go to doctors have much higher instances of being diagnosed with health problems than people that don't!

Talking to Dad the other day. Mid 80s. He says. 30 years ago I had perfect blood pressure, perfect chlosteral, perfect blood sugars. Now I'm taking medication to get all three right.... funny thing is they're all three pretty much exactly what they where 30 years ago..

That's why I don't visit doctors. Sometimes they can tell me the information I don't wanna know. So, when I feel bad, I usually take the best CBD gummies UK from Blessed CBD and everything becomes much easier. I know that this is not the best strategy but it works.

Going to a Dr. is against a man's principles. Just the way we are, tough, ain't going, don't need it, felling fine.
My neighbor had just retired from the gas company at 62, had 60 or so acres on two farms and 30-40 head of cattle. Neighbor kid ran through a fence so he was fixing it with the help of a few friends/neighbors and it started raining and he kept working. He caught a cold. He had an appointment to go see the Dr. about a lump under his left shoulder that week, well the cold kept him from going in. Seven months later he finally gets another appointment. They discover cancer. Treatment was too late to get it stopped. He left us last Labor Day weekend.
One can complain all one wants about high blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight, triglycerides, salt, and anything else but when the results of those finally get to show it's often too late to wish you would have done something different.

I had a mole on my right shoulder right about where the butt of a rifle meets the shoulder. The seam on my shirt caught it and made it bleed. I decided to get it checked out. The doc said it was probably nothing but cut it off and sent to the lab (he was right nothing). While I was there I said I am 65 and about to retire I should get a physical while still on company insurance. Made an appointment for the following week. Doc found a mole on the back of my neck. It turned out to be a big melanoma. They took out a 2 by 4 inch deep piece out of the back of my neck and two limp-nodes. It hadn't spread yet. Had I not gone to the doctor that day I wouldn't be here now. All that said I avoid them when ever possible. There is a difference however between being tough and being smart.

That was a smart move Dave. Good to hear that you caught the melanoma before it did spread.

Doctor's office called me a few days ago and said it was time for my wellness check. I am so paranoid about the shots the left wants us to take. I suppose that the doctor will be shocked when I ask him if he has a Glasko Cline shot from Bill Gates with markers in it. If he says yes, then I will tell him I will get my shot from someone else.

Got another text reminder that it was time for my flu vaccine..... OKAY..... first off it is not a vaccine it is a flu shot. Second, I have not taken the first one yet,. I also will not take the pneumonia shot or the shingles shot.... so why is it time for one now? Because I had to get a primary care physician when I had the ankle replacement.... and now they want me every 6 months for a wellness checkup.... want me to now get a colonoscopy, and a mammogram and all that yearly..... 1st mammogram in over 10 years and it all looked the same as the last one.... my blood pressure was 165/82 and she was pushing blood pressure medicine.... Talked to my chiropractor as he has done more for me than any MD over the years... and he said that he cannot advise me but that they are being told in their latest conference of chiropractors for continuing education stuff ..AGAIN... that a persons blood pressure can be 100 plus your age as the top number before you start to get real concerned...bottom number should be half or less. I fall near the top end, but that blood pressure medicine is not the best way to go. Not going that route. Cholesterol is VERY GOOD according to reg doctor... and my blood pressure at the chiropractor office was 132/76. The specialist orthopedic dr did a FANTASTIC job on the ankle replacement.... and they are good at alot of things... but I am not falling into the merry-go-round of drugs for bp that flucuates and not going in yearly for stuff that never seems to change. I overheard a comment about the drug companies coming out with another new bp medicine that is designed to help people reach the "newly accepted lower BP readings" that are to be followed as being acceptable. Smart is one thing.... getting you to get on the band wagon of drugs is another.

I was told by my dr. that as we get older it is better to have a bit higher (then normal) BP. It's advised to keep from getting light headed when getting up quickly and falling.

My Dad died from colon cancer. When they removed it, they told them they got it all. But later on he felt a knot forming in his abdomen again, and ignored it. He didn't say anything to anyone that he could feel it forming. He did not go back for his yearly check up. I just cannot understand why he didn't go back after having cancer removed. When he let the knot get so large and started having trouble, he decided to go back. At that point, it was too late because it had spread so badly.
I took family leave from my job to stay with my Dad at that point. The cancer then came to the surface of his body and created a hole that constantly wept. I had to change the bandage twice a day. It had a very strong odor that I will never forget as the smell seemed to fill the house.
Dad went into a coma and then died shortly after that. My two brothers and myself made sure we had a colonoscopy. My brothers both had polyps that were pre cancerous and I had none. My older brother said he hated going for the colonoscopy, and did that kit where you send a sample in. It came back with blood, so he still has to go get the colonoscopy.
I went back for my second time and it was clear again. People should have this checked as medicare insurance covers it. It sure is a good feeling to know that you caught something early.

Unless one is a hypochondriac folks tend to avoid Dr's until there is pain, and for some a LOT of pain. Medical checkups are a part of staying healthy. A colonoscopy gets discussed in a negative way by most all folks. It's an invasion of our privacy. Then we hear of the dreadful stories of the preparation for the procedure. It all gets exaggerated and out of proportion. It's a test, pure and simple. Take the solution to clean our your intestines for an inspection, and be done with it for 10 years unless they find something that needs a closer look.
First time a Dr. told me I needed one I rejected the idea. After a bit of discussion I asked her why she was so adamant. She replied, "If my dad had one at your age, he probably be alive today!". I told her to set up the schedule.
Many folks take better care of their horses, cattle, dogs and cars then they do themselves!

d2cat, I don't find the solution that bad. The two times I had it done, I really looked forward to eating lunch afterwards. I did not feel bad afterwards either. It is just not as bad as some people portray it.

Jan, I'm not a fan of any excessive medications either, especially chronic stuff. If there is a homeopathic option, I'll try it first. Seems many times they work alright without all the complications.
I was pretty far the other way until more recently. Seen a lot of the homeopathic stuff work enough, I know there's something to a lot of it.
So it's the first place I start searching now.
As far as colonoscopy business... I'd probably be dead without doing them. But then again, they about killed me by trying to save me. I'm not a fan of doctors that won't listen...

Reading these responses has inspired me to take better care of myself. I started out light by visiting with a couple of nurses. I'm now seeing a doctor on a fairly consistent basis. Who knows, if she sticks around I might even let her give me a checkup.
