I recall back during the exotic invasion back in the seventies....I had a chance to hear Roy Wallace of Select Sires give a presentation on the breeds he had seen when he went to europe to select semen from bulls that Select Sires was thinking of importing.
He was showing pictures and talking about the benefits and shortfalls of the various breeds and how they were used in europe and what the various breeds could offer to us cattlemen...
when he got to the Chianina...he showed a picture of him leading one of these bulls pretty much like the video....he made a statement something like....boys, I am here to tell you that when one of these bulls snots on the top of your head it gets your attention pretty quick....The first Chianina crosses I saw a year or two later were beautiful animals but they could jump fences pretty much like a deer.
in later years my local vet said he had developed a fool proof method for identifying chi crosses from limousine crosses.... The limousine crosses would kick you right in the chest....the Chi crosses would generally kick over your head.
my experience with the limousine crosses it that they did not so much kick, as turn and take you on...

Had a cousin to harvest the remaining Chi crosses on the farm with a deer rifle that would not stay in the corral. He got some caught and loaded including the bull after the first crop and the antics. The bull made the inside of the roof of his trailer look like a bad hail storm from dents. He was a surgeon, got off from the hospital for lunch and drove down to the barn to see if they had sold. Fellow told him that his bull would come in the ring soon. He had more work but waited a few minutes. His bull came in the ring and Henry said that he was heading out of the door ASAP because the bull had jumped and was was standing in the buyer's seats. He yelled, "Just mail me my check"!

Wow, that is a beautiful bull. But he is so big that I would worry about my cows and heifers. He does pack a lot of beef.

There was a man a couple of towns over that crossed Chi with his Angus. He had trouble keeping them in the fences as well as they were tall and athletic. I would have really dreaded the time to go out to get them up or work them knowing that they would go over the fence if you got them in tight quarters. Chasing a cow around the country is not my idea of a good time.
