One thing I hate about getting older is how I determine to spend money or not. It not that we don't have the money to buy a UTV, as it is for us to justify it. We go though the fact that you can buy a good used pickup for the same price. That really bugs us. Then we have a good strong ATV and a trailer that will go anywhere. We can carry more on the trailer than we could put in the back of the UTV. Also have the little 950 JD that seems to go through any kind of mud with the rice and cane tires. We just hook the trailer to it too.
We are always looking at the ads and when they go up for sale. Then we start the same conversation all over again...
Our neighbor who is 90 years old uses his a lot. He has a Polaris, and goes all over his land. It is so easy for him to get in and out of. He says it is the best thing he has ever bought!!
I think once we get where we cannot swing our legs over the Honda Foreman, then we might consider it.

its way more enjoyable to drive your UTV around the farm then an ATV.
all the stuff in the back won't come out.. mine is always full.. i use it for everything. under the seats.. full.. glove box.. full.. its my little shop on wheels

That's the thing, they might not make sense on paper, but more user friendly than you might imagine. If you get one, just bite the bullet and get AC. You won't be sorry.

One thing I'm not happy about in my new Polaris 1000 is the heated seats (my butt gets cold). Two buttons on the console, one for drivers/middle and one for the passenger seat. The icon looks similar to the one in my truck with 3 bars for 3 heat settings. Problem is, the buttons don't light up so you never know what setting it's on - or even if it's turned on at all. And it doesn't automatically shut off when you turn off the ignition. WTH? So on warmer days I'll be driving around and all the sudden my ass in on fire but I'm still not sure if it's on high or med so I'll hit the button a couple times to either lower the temp or turn the damn thing off. The dealer called Polaris and it's only a 3 harness wiring instead of 4, which would have made the button(s) light up. Seriously? Yeah, I'll be unplugging those wires come Spring. That's not good. Maybe wire in a simple toggle switch and leave the other one where you like it?

I always take care of his animals when they're gone and insist on no compensation but he always says "if you ever need anything" and he's the only one I would trust to do any wiring.

Deep down, I feel as often as my husband looks at them, he will get one. If that is what he wants, then I am OK with it. Anytime my ATV cranks up, both dogs load up on the racks. If it is moving, that want to be on it. Often I take them for rides like children. Often the Catahoula will get in the garage and just sit on the ATV. I get so tickled at his need to ride it. Right at this very moment, the starter has gone out. My husband says he will get it fixed in a few days.

The secondary clutch on the Northstar Ranger was going out again every few hundred miles, which was every few days sometimes. The dealership decided it was the fault of the transmission input shaft, which was on backorder, and after about a month, Polaris sprang for a whole new transmission. Got it back finally, and it worked fine.....figured it was a good time to get rid of it with ~9500 miles. It's just been a pain in the ass. Decided to go CanAm. The clutches (reportedly), suspension components, differentials, sway bar......just a lot of things look heavier. It rides a little rougher, but optimistic it will be a better outfit. The 1000 Ranger collected an incredible amount of mud and crap on top of the plastic underbelly. If you went to the bother of taking it off and cleaning it out, it could fill three buckets.....so fifteen gallons. Almost impossible to clean out any other way. I don't think this one will have that problem, with the better design and fender liners.

Where are the cup holders? Agree about the massive amount of mud that collects under the Polaris. And remember me bytching about the heated seats? Pulled up the passenger/bench side last week to hook up the sprayer (to the battery) and the cheap, plastic "screws" broke. All of them! My seat is literally just laying there and the calves knock it off all the time. Taking it in tomorrow and Polaris is replacing the entire seat AND re-wiring the heat with a toggle.

good choice!
my wife wants a defender crew cab pretty bad. They are really nice and built well. Did you get the 1000 engine? I bet that thing hauls a$$ !
those little 50 cc ATV's are a fortune! I tried to buy one for my son and it was going to be almost 3k OTD for one.. I found one near new on CL for 1200 bucks and jumped on it. he has a ball on it. it'll get up to about 22 mph.

Cup holders metrobank hours Little lever to set the brake....Ranger just has Park. Picture turned out on it's side, naturally. Comes with winch....good place to hook a tow rope anyway. 5 3 bank atm near me

I bet you'd enjoy a crew cab. It's a 1000, the Ranger 1000 might be a little quicker on the takeoff on the off chance it's not broke down. Lighter would be my guess. The manager where we got this said there are supposed to be some in Australia hitting the 50,000 mile mark, fwiw. I'm thinking they should if maintained. Doesn't seem to use as much gas as the Ranger.
