My hotshot trucking career is sure off to a slow start. I figured all the hoops I have to jump through might take a while and it is, but not in the way I expected. Starting the LLC was a fifteen minute project, DOT number was a non event. Commercial insurance was a text to my agent. I showed up at a test station to take my written exam for my CDL after I had called them to make sure they were open. I drove an hour and walked in only to be told they're closed. The next morning I drove an hour the other direction to a different test station. I got there at 8:10 and was already number twenty six. I was the last person to be called back at 11:45. They turned over thirty people away and many of them had come in multiple times before. The examiner told me to call as soon as I had my permit. I did and they told me to call first thing on August 15 and they might be able to get me an appointment for the end of September! I now have a truck payment, trailer payment, commercial insurance payment etc, sitting in my yard doing nothing for at least two months. By then, if I fail any portion of the walk around inspection or drive test I'll likely have to start all over as my learners permit will be expired.

I haven't heard of it being that bad on this side of the state to take your test. For awhile you needed the xxlong seat belt for the one lady giving the driving test. If yours didn't reach around her it was defective equipment.

Anything that will fit on my trailer at this point. Probably a lot of pallets of rock as that's big industry around here.

If yours didn't reach around her it was defective equipment. The truck I'm using is also my personal vehicle. I was thinking of cutting the seatbelt length in half to use it as a measuring stick so I don't accidentally bring home any one ton dry heifers from the barn. "safety first, if the belt doesn't fit I can't haul ya home."
