Looking for a 4 row rotary mower. I’ve never ran a batwing, only a 4 row mower in row crop settings. For pastures, hayfields, around ponds, etc which is better? Which is tougher and tears up the least amount of parts?

Batwing will flex..... you can get them in 10 to 20 foot models. Imagine if your really good one can tear either up without much trouble.

I'd want a batwing, I used a 14'Woods for many years. It ran over a lot of stuff it wasn't supposed to clipping unfamiliar rented places. I can testify that the older ones were very tough.

Our 10' Bushwacker hasn't tore up yet. Even mowing 110 acres of power line right of way yearly. But if your not going to mow ruff ground I'd get a 15' bat wing. Clipping pastures takes for ever 10' at a time.

Now I’ve got to find one that isn’t worn out without paying a new price That's the trick. I was looking at a new Schulte 10' batwing the other day, $21,000 CAD. Ugh. Used ones are not much less as near as I can see if they are in any kind of shape. I guess I will continue to use my Bic lighter in the spring to do my brush control.

I bought my 15 when my old 10 got to where i couldn't get parts in a timely fashion.
