I'm in Rutherford Co., in the western foothills part of NC. I run about 60 mamas, mostly gert/whiteface cross. Given the current market, I'm working on getting to a mostly grazing setup, hoping to get to the point I can eliminate hay feeding in the winter. One of our local sales has closed, and the other is struggling with headcount and getting buyers. Tough times.

How far is it to the other barns for you?? The barn that closed was about a 20 min pull, the remaining one is about 30 min. The next closest two are both about an hour and a half pull.
To me, the worst part is that less head count means less buyers, which means lower prices. A vicious circle type of thing.

The only 2 barns near me are 45 to 1 hr.
