Yard turned brown about two weeks ago when it started getting good and hot. They keep some rain in the forcast but it doesn't seem to be for us. Did get some cotton showers around over night.

If it didn't hit 100 here today it was mighty close. We had a lightning storm pass through Sunday night. As a result we have 3 different fires. Two are small and I think contained. The third is over by the Snake River. It jumped the fire line last night and is up to 500 acres. I know there are some guys from our rangeland protection group over on that fire. They haven't called me which is OK by me.

I think this last storm was the first time in almost a year that we didn't get pounded by at least an inch of rain every time a cloud go near us. It still rained some but not like we've been getting. I wouldn't mind some rain now and that amazes me after the winter and spring we've had. I've started sprinkling a little on the garden in the last week or so.

It is the start of Hell's Canyon. They don't call the old guys when they are on that kind of ground. I just get called to bring one of the pump trucks when it is ground you can drive the truck out to the fire.
