Does anyone know a good place to get parts for one of these? I need the front half of the driveshaft. Figured I might try online, there aren't too many options here. At least that I'm familiar with.

Yes a Ford 501 should be a Sickle bar mower.

Yes a sickle bar, I bought mainly for around a pond. All the ones I've seen for parts are missing the driveshaft.

Looks like eBay will be your best bet

Any decent machine shop should be able to build one.

I see a rear half to the shaft on eBay but I have that. I can see I'm gonna have as much in this as I do the rest of the mower. Still cheaper than a weed eater.

I googled it but can’t find where it states what series driveline it is. Idk what all you need. The front half shouldn’t be too expensive. Where are you located ?

I'm in VA. I wondering if I could just buy a new one for say a fertilizer spreader (maybe still need to cut it). I don't remember how the rear half attached to the mower. Maybe if the same size I could just take the u joint apart and "splice" them together there.

Thank you, that looks like what I need. I'm not really sure of its the male or female. I should be able to take some measurements today or tomorrow. I need to get a tractor up to it so I know how long it needs to be. If I remember correctly they're pretty short

I ended up ordering one from eBay before looking at my mower. That was dumb, because they sent me a tractor side coupler on another male shaft. Maybe that's right and my mower has been rigged. I'm thinking now I can cut this one off at say 3" and slide the right size tubing over it, and weld it. The male side is 1"x 11/8" solid square stock. Would there be tubing sized right (inside measurement wise) to fit that? What wall thickness would it need to be to hold up?
Thanks
